The Matiz Raw Cake duo is a Matiz Fig cake and Matiz Apricot cake. They both make a wonderful addition to your pantry. Also a delightful hostess gift. ( Seriously, everyone brings wine, give your hostess something they can quickly and easily serve with all of that wine!)
Crafted from old recipes from the Extrameduara region of Spain ( see our Artisan section below for more information) These nutrient dense cakes are so much better than an ‘energy bar’ and are equally suitable for a day hike or an impromptu happy hour. Excellent with cheeses, charcuterie and everything from sherry and port to a crisp white wine .
The Matiz company provides traditional Spanish delights. They provide regional favorites such as raw Fruit cakes . Located in the hills of La Vera in the Spanish region of Extremadura. This is located in the Westernmost region of Spain. Although it name lends on etc think of extreme hardship it actually refers to the Duero river. The western border of souther Spain and for many years the edge of Christianity when the Spanish Christians were taking back their land from the Moors. Although the landscape of the area is sparse it is rich in traditions and delightful Spanish foods we enjoy today such as Pimento and dried fruit bars.
The demi luna ( half moon ) cake is wrapped tightly in plastic and travels well. Either in a back pack or a panic basket! A wonderful nutrient dense pick me up or a lovely after dinner accouterment to cheese and port. Simply slice and eat- doesn't get much easier than that!
Open package, slice and serve. ( heck if you are out on a day hike just take a bite! We won't tell) This fig and walnut bar is simple, delicious and nutrient dense. So much better than the 'energy bars ' out there. Also so delightful sliced and served with blue cheese and a glass of port or sherry either before or after dinner.
